Muslim Woman Aims to be the First for US Congress
Watch the October 30th broadcast of Prime News
In Michigan, a progressive millennial wants to replace a two-term Republican in the United States Congress. Should she succeed, Fayrouz Saad would be America’s first Muslim woman in Congress. The child of immigrants and a practising Muslim, Saad grew up in the heavily Arab-American city of Dearborn, Michigan. She’s only 34 years old, merely a college freshman when two planes struck the World Trade Center on Sept 11th, but she says that that was the first time she truly realized that the stereotype against Arabs and Muslims was a real thing. She aims to change that with her presence and commitment to the people of Michigan as a congresswoman.
She is running for Congress in Michigan’s 11th District, hoping to replace the white, male, Republican representative in office – Dave Trott.
If you’re looking to put your charity and volunteer efforts toward a good cause, or looking to get involved politically, consider supporting this lawmaker. FCN is not endorsing her as a candidate – as we have not done a full platform and policy review – we are simply letting you know she is out there! – @Trezanay
