Amazon Key has Social Media in Stitches…and Worry
In our last story before commercial break – Amazon got roasted on social media this week upon announcing its new service Amazon Key. This service allows people to purchase technology from Amazon that will allow a select group of Amazon employees to gain entry to your home to put your packages inside of your home, rather than leave them outside on the porch or doorstep. Look at these tweets: @GurlyTina said: AmazonKey gonna have all kinds of psychos signing up to be delivery men. @OfficialUmarS said: Amazon: do we have permission to leave your package using Amazon Key. Me: sure. Later: _____ @Polotek said: Amazon Key is another example of something capitalism takes for granted that actually gets black folk killed. @Read_aboutmi_ said that there are endless overlooked scenarios down that road for sure as both the delivery person and the resident. Rather risk my neighbors getting it. I’m with them. Unless Amazon is coming over to do direct services, like walk my dog, or clean my house, I’d rather just have my stuff left outside my door or at an Amazon pick up location. Why add additional threat and worry to wondering who has been in your home…or survelling your home via camera? I’m good. – @Trezanay
